East Coast Adventures

I returned yesterday from a two week vacation on the East Coast. It was fantastic.

The first stop was New York City for a day.

I so wanted to stay here longer. There's something beautiful about this city, though the humidity was excruciating. But you know what the best part was?

I MET MY AGENT!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Alison Fargis, Emmanuelle Morgen, Sarah Passick, and all of the other lovely gals who work at Stonesong. Alison took me out to lunch. We talked about my book and other books and our lives and all sorts of wonderful things. I honestly think this was the highlight of my trip. It felt like something out of a dream.

After NYC, the fam and I drove to Washington, D.C., where the weather was actually worse. Thankfully, the museums had air conditioning. We saw the sites and then spent most of our time indoors, checking out airplanes and space and artwork. This particular painting made me think of Doctor Who.

(go watch Vincent and the Doctor if you haven't. It's a tearjerker.)

After a quick stop in Pennsylvania to visit my sister's friend and eat at a delicious diner, we headed to my second favorite part of the trip. We spent a week at a farmhouse in Vermont that was built in the 1850s and has been in my family for many years. My mom used to go there with her siblings when she was a kid to visit my great grandparents.

Beautiful, isn't it? There's a field behind it and a forest all around.

This place made me so inspired. I did some writing and lots of thinking. I had multiple adventures in the forest and surrounding areas.

My sister and I pretending we had bows and arrows. :P

Found a perfect swimming hole - the water was freezing, of course, but that didn't stop me from jumping in and swimming under the waterfall.

My little sister and I watched several Miyazaki movies I hadn't seen before, along with my favorite film he's done, Howl's Moving Castle. It's safe to say he's one of my fav filmmakers.

The forest and field rivers and stars were so perfect, I didn't want to leave. I feel like I'm going to end up living on the east coast at some point. Maybe even NYC sometime after I graduate next year. I'm not sure yet...we'll see. ;)
